”Jack off Jill are a band that i first heard in the mid 1990’s due to their association with Marilyn Manson. They were taken under Mansons wing in Florida and honed their craft by touring with him around that state. They broke up around 2000 and i thought that i’d never get a chance to see them live. Until earlier this year when i checked their website and noted that they were reforming for one last tour and 2  of the dates would be in London. i tried to get a photo pass for the Electric ballroom gig but alas  i was not successful but a friend did have a spare ticket and  i jumped at the chance to buy it!!”

”The electric ball room was packed when i arrived around 8:30. was there a support band? I’ve no idea and i don’t care!! i was only there for them. the place was packed to the rafters as the event was sold out. from what i can gather youngsters outnumbered the older fans from back in the day, most of them were not even a drunken thought in their parents eye when Jack Off Jill started, you could tell by the youthful exuberance emanating around the place. Jack Off Jill were not short of energy themselves for a band in their late 30’s early 40’s, the boost from the audience i’m sure was a big help too!”

”They were doing a roaring trade in merchandise i saw! i did not buy anything though due to spending money on t shirt over the previous weekend. I don’t think the store stopped trading even when the band came onstage!! Anyway, the music!! Exuberant, raunchy and in your face small portions of female angst ,rage and sorrow drizzled with a bittersweet veneer!!  Jessikas voice is as strong as it was back in the day with a gruff world weary edge and  tattooed with experiences that have informed and instructed and strengthened but at the end of the day would rather not have experienced! Sounds a bit like Hole or Juliette Lewis and the licks!!All the favorites are there like Nazi halo (you go so low your faggot rainbow your Nazi Halo won’t save you this time), my cat ( My cat isn’t crazy He’s everything to me My cat burns the bible And he thinks it’s so funny)and cumdumster (  You call, and I’ll answer Make me understand Why I have to hate you That’s quite ok  C-c-c-c-cumdumpster  C-c-c-c-cunt  C-c-c-call me clever  Is that still ok      ) were all played and given raucous applause by an audience that seemed to know all the words to all the songs as if learned by heart!! After just over an hour of play and a short  encore which a short dialogue about body shaming and a rendition of The Cures ” Love Song” the night was over!!”

i enjoyed myself, the band enjoyed themselves and the audience certainly enjoyed themselves!! I want to see them again!!

”The photos are rubbish due to no one getting photo passes, DSLR’s were not allowed in under any circumstances so the camera on my phone had to do, as you can see it’s not a very good one!!”
